Frequently Asked Questions

The Village is an All-Person Access attraction, with rest areas, concrete ramps, manicured lawns, guard rails, and footpaths making 98% of the Village accessible to wheelchairs and 100% accessible to those in wheelchairs but with some mobility.

Please note: The Eastern side of the Village (across the Suspension bridge to the John Deere Tractor Shed) does not have concrete footpaths but does have a level, well-compacted road.

Please phone ahead if you would like to book a complimentary wheelchair.

The Village’s Bakerville Tearooms are open during high season. Enjoy tea, coffee, sandwiches, cakes and other delights.

You are also welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy one of the many lovely spots available to sit and relax.

The Historic Village school holiday programs have loads of scheduled activities with something to interest everyone. There are also regular events held on weekends and public holidays.

See the 1923 Harley Davidson, 1923 T Model Ford and the 1927 Morris Cowley Van start-up or hear the impressive might of the 1927 Ruston Hornsby as its large diesel engine kicks into life or a fully restored 1910 steam engine.

Live blacksmithing demonstrations are a must; you can even have your name printed on a wanted poster. Then, cross the 75-metre suspension bridge to enjoy the Village’s nature trails or the custom-designed “vintage playground”.

There is plenty of free parking on-site, including space for RVs and caravans.

The Historic Village Herberton is a 90-minute drive from Cairns.

The Village is open daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and you should allow at least 1 hr 30 mins to explore the Village. But, of course, you're welcome to stay longer and make a day of it – there's certainly enough to see, with more than 60 restored period buildings making this outdoor museum the most significant in Queensland.
