To get to Goat Island from Auckland, follow SH1 to Warkworth, and then follow the large brown Goat Island Marine Reserve signs from Matakana through to Leigh and then onto Goat Island.

There are no food outlets at Goat Island, however there are plenty of places to eat in Leigh and Matakana- ask the staff for their recommendations!

No. There is no ferry to Goat Island.

Goat Island is a small island around 60 meters from the mainland. &nbsp;

No. It is a Marine Reserve so dogs are strictly prohibited both on the beach and in the picnic areas. Please leave your dog at home!

Yes. There are both toilets and outdoor beach showers (no hot water) facilities at the reserve. There is no drinking water, and there are no BBQ&acute;s- however there are picnic tables where you can enjoy your lunch.

A marine reserve is a type of marine protected area. In a marine reserve, the collection, removal, feeding and killing of any marine life is prohibited- including shells or sea urchins. Goat Island was the first marine reserve in the world- where everything from the fish down to the grains of sand are protected!

Pool -&nbsp;Spend one day in a pool learning the skills needed to become a confident diver.

Dive and Dive -&nbsp;The following 2 EPIC days are spent diving the Leigh coast, putting your new skills to the test and exploring the underwater world.

​Immerse yourself in a comprehensive three-day courses, carefully designed to provide you with the skills, confidence, and safety training necessary to dive to a depth of 18m, accompanied by a buddy, anywhere in the world.

New Zealand&#39;s pristine waters offer an unparalleled setting for learning to dive. By adhering to the reputable Scuba Schools International (SSI) standards, we ensure that you receive the best training quality tailored to the unique diving conditions found in New Zealand. The instructors incorporate their extensive knowledge of the local marine ecosystem, giving you a deeper understanding and appreciation for the underwater world.

Day 1:&nbsp;Theory, Pool/confined.&nbsp;Learn the skills needed to be a confident and safe diver.

Day 2:&nbsp;Equipment session, Ocean Dives 1 &amp; 2. Put your new skills into practice

Day 3:&nbsp;Ocean Dives 3 &amp; 4. Certification time! On your last dive, you will be able to safely plan and conduct a dive between your buddies. You will now be a certified Open Water Diver!

Use provided buoyancy aids, signal for help if needed, and remain calm in challenging situations.</li>
		<li>Marine Life Encounters: Observe marine life respectfully and avoid disturbing animals</li>
		<li>Sun Exposure and Hydration: Prolonged exposure to sun and saltwater can lead to dehydration and sunburn. Use reef-safe sunscreen and hydrate regularly.</li>
		<li>Depth and Pressure (For Diving): Diving involves pressure changes. Follow instructor guidance to minimize risks like barotrauma</li>
		<li>Equipment Handling: Proper equipment use is essential. Listen to safety briefings and ask questions as needed</li>
		<li>Medical Considerations: Snorkeling and diving may pose risks for individuals with certain health conditions (e.g., heart, respiratory, or ear issues)</li>
		<li>Participants should consult a healthcare professional if uncertain and confirm they are fit for the activity</li>
